Generalist is seeking an entry-level Research Assistant to design, run, and analyze experiments at the intersection of machine learning and robotics. You will work with ML researchers and robotics engineers to conduct robot experiments, design evaluation tasks, collect data, and document repeatable workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience designing experiments, lab studies, or structured evaluations.
• Attention to experimental controls, sample sizes, variance, and repeatability.
• Diligent and detail-oriented with hands-on work in physical systems.

Responsibilities

• Run structured experiments on robot platforms.
• Set up tasks, fixtures, and benchmarks for robot evaluations.
• Collect high-quality robot data and track experimental conditions.
• Measure success rates across tasks, robots, and model variants.
• Design evaluations with controls and statistical rigor.
• Analyze results to distinguish real model improvements from noise.
• Synthesize findings and communicate them to researchers and engineers.
• Prepare robots, sensors, and workspaces for rollouts and evaluations.
• Assist in training jobs, evaluations, and organizing results.
• Beta test internal tools for teaching robots new skills.
• Troubleshoot hardware setups and bottlenecks.
• Write clear documentation and playbooks to reproduce workflows.
• Improve experimental reliability and data quality.
