Genista Biosciences is a rapidly growing biotech company based in San Jose, CA that is dedicated to improving public health and food safety, both on the community and global scale.

Our Goal:

To revolutionize food safety by creating a cutting-edge platform based on a unique combination of robotics, software, and technology. Our ability to offer fast and accurate testing while still being cost-effective allows every member of the food supply chain (big or small) to be rest assured that the food they produce is safe thereby making the world a better place.

About the Role:

We are searching for talented, passionate, and driven engineers to invent creative and clever robotic systems that automate various aspects of our laboratory workflow. Many of the projects will involve designing and building electromechanical systems from the ground up and will incorporate aspects from across engineering disciplines (e.g electronics, sensors, mechanical and software programming).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take systems from concept to prototype through design, test, and launch using creativity to engineer clever solutions that solve unique challenges
  • Modeling parts and assemblies in CAD and creating design documents (Assembly Drawings, SOPs, MTBF reports, etc.)
  • Debug, improve, and/or redesign existing robotic systems as well as perform hardware or software fixes as necessary
  • Work in machine shop or with third-party shops to rapidly prototype using 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines
  • Prototype electronics quickly using ATMEGA/Arduino microcontrollers or other open-source hardware
  • Develop firmware for robotic hardware and control systems, motors, drives and actuator controllers, sensor systems, and self-monitoring control systems
  • Communicate with various vendors for materials and part sourcing

Qualifications:

  • BS, MS or PhD in mechatronics, electrical, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD or similar MCAD, Electronic CAD, CAM software, Solid modeling, Surface modeling, fabrication drawings, 2D drawings, and GD&T
  • Experience building prototypes such as machining, mechanical assembly, electromechanical integration, soldering, etc.
  • Knowledge of ROS, Python, Arduino, C++, or firmware programming
  • Hands-on fabrication or machine-shop experience with tools such as CNC mill, CNC lathe/router, 3D printer, laser-cutting machines

About the Position:

This is a full time position with competitive salary and health, vision, dental and life insurance benefits that are fully covered by Genista with no out-of-pocket expenses. Additional perks include gym membership, free on-site lunch, paid vacation, and a casual working environment.
