Job summary

raydar, based in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Robotics Hardware Engineer to design and build mechanical hardware for automated systems, from initial concept through prototyping, testing and production.

The role blends hands-on bench work with design tasks, including building test rigs, integrating hardware with customer equipment, and preparing parts for scaling from pilots to full-scale manufacturing in live production environments.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD tools with tolerancing and material knowledge.
• Experience with mechanical machines such as robotic arms, drones or self-driving vehicles.
• History of moving mechanical products from sketches to volume build or field rollout.
• Startup experience or substantial hands-on hardware projects building hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design gripping tools and complete machine systems with customer equipment integration.
• Split time between design and hands-on prototyping and testing.
• Build your own test rigs and perform testing.
• Move parts from prototype runs to larger production with outside suppliers.
• Install and deploy hardware in live production environments.
