Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in robotics, mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, computer engineering or related field.
  • 1–3+ years hands-on experience designing, programming, or maintaining robotic or automated systems.
  • Working knowledge of robot kinematics, motion control, and PLC/HMI programming.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and integrate robotic manipulators, AGVs, end-effectors, and fixtures used in vehicle assembly and testing.
  • Develop and tune motion control, kinematics, and path-planning algorithms; program industrial robots and PLC-based automation systems.
  • Integrate vision systems, force/torque sensors, and other feedback devices for adaptive robotic operations.
  • Build and run test plans to validate robotic cell performance, cycle time, repeatability, and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, industrial engineering, and product design teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation including design specs, risk assessments, and SOPs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce downtime, and increase reliability of existing systems.

About the Role

We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to join our Engineering team and help design, build, and deploy robotic and automated systems that support FF's vehicle production and next-generation mobility products. You will work at the intersection of mechanical design, electrical/controls engineering, and software, developing robotic solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, prototype, and integrate robotic manipulators, AGVs, end-effectors, and fixtures used in vehicle assembly and testing
  • Develop and tune motion control, kinematics, and path-planning algorithms; program industrial robots (FANUC, KUKA, ABB, or similar) and PLC-based automation systems
  • Integrate vision systems, force/torque sensors, and other feedback devices for adaptive robotic operations
  • Build and run test plans to validate robotic cell performance, cycle time, repeatability, and safety compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, industrial engineering, and product design teams
  • Maintain technical documentation including design specs, risk assessments, and SOPs
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce downtime, and increase reliability of existing systems
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 1-3+ years of hands-on experience designing, programming, or maintaining robotic or automated systems
  • Working knowledge of robot kinematics, motion control, and PLC/HMI programming
  • Proficiency in Python or C++
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working hands-on with hardware
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2, robotic simulation tools (Gazebo, RoboDK), or digital twin platforms
  • Familiarity with automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Experience with machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) for robotic guidance or inspection
  • Fluency in English and Chinese is a plus
