Job summary

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive manufacturing organization, seeks a skilled Robotics Engineer to program, integrate, commission, and optimize robotic MIG welding systems within a Bodyshop environment. The role emphasizes weld quality, dimensional integrity, process repeatability, and production readiness.

The candidate will program MIG welding trajectories on FANUC and NACHI platforms, optimize weld schedules, and ensure robust TCP verification and robot safety systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation, Welding, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on NACHI robot programming and integration experience.
• Hands-on FANUC robot programming experience, including ArcTool.
• Automotive BIW or Bodyshop robotic welding experience.
• MIG/MAG welding process knowledge and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Program and refine robotic MIG welding trajectories using FANUC and NACHI platforms.
• Configure and optimize weld schedules, torch angles, electrode stick-out, travel speeds, and welding parameters.
• Integrate and commission robotic arc welding systems from setup through production start-up.
• Diagnose and correct weld defects including porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, burn-through, and spatter.
• Implement and maintain automatic TCP check and calibration routines.
• Integrate welding peripherals such as torch cleaning stations, reamers, wire cutters, neck aligners, and TCP calibration units.
• Establish and maintain robot programming standards, backups, and version histories.
• Troubleshoot robotic hardware, software, safety, and welding-process faults during commissioning and high-volume production.

Job description

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Robotics Engineer. This role is responsible for programming, integrating, commissioning, and optimizing robotic MIG welding systems within an automotive Bodyshop environment, with a focus on weld quality, dimensional integrity, process repeatability, and production readiness.

Job Duties

• Program and refine complex robotic MIG welding trajectories using FANUC and NACHI platforms
• Configure and optimize weld schedules, torch angles, electrode stick-out, travel speeds, and welding parameters
• Integrate and commission robotic arc welding systems from initial setup through production start-up
• Diagnose and correct weld defects including porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, burn-through, and excessive spatter
• Implement and maintain automatic Tool Center Point (TCP) check and calibration routines
• Integrate welding peripherals including torch cleaning stations, reamers, wire cutters, neck aligners, and automated TCP calibration systems
• Establish and maintain robot programming standards, controller backups, and documented version histories
• Troubleshoot robotic hardware, software, safety, and welding-process faults during commissioning and high-volume production

Skills & Experience

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation, Welding, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Hands‑on NACHI robot programming and integration experience, including integration from initial configuration
• Hands‑on FANUC robot programming experience, including advanced FANUC ArcTool
• Automotive Body‑in‑White (BIW) or Bodyshop robotic welding experience
• MIG/MAG robotic welding process knowledge and welding parameter optimization
• Experience with TCP maintenance, calibration, tool coordinate systems, Weld Frames, and automated TCP verification
• Experience configuring robot safety systems, including FANUC Dual Check Safety (DCS) and/or NACHI Robot Monitoring Unit (RMU)
• Experience commissioning and optimizing robotic welding applications for production environments
• Experience with NACHI FD/AX series controller configuration and MIG/Arc programming
• Experience configuring FANUC weld schedules, torch controls, and welding power‑source interfaces
• Knowledge of short‑circuit, globular, spray, and pulsed arc transfer modes
• Experience synchronizing robot travel speed with wire feed rate and optimizing voltage, amperage, wire feed speed, and shielding gas flow
• Experience integrating digital/analog industrial interfaces, DeviceNet, and EtherNet/IP
• Experience with major industrial robotic welding power sources
• Experience integrating and maintaining robotic welding peripherals including reamers, wire cutters, neck aligners, and TCP calibration units
• Experience maintaining robot controller image backups and programming version control
