Job summary

Gecko Robotics invites applications for an Embedded Software Engineering Intern. The role, based in Pittsburgh for Summer 2027, focuses on developing C/C++ and Python software for embedded systems on Gecko’s RoboSPLAT platform.

You will work closely with experienced engineers to improve tooling, diagnostics, and workflows, documenting findings and delivering a final demonstration. You will gain hands-on experience with ROS 2, Git, Linux, and hardware interfaces while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field.
• Onsite in Pittsburgh for Summer 2027, Monday–Friday.
• Foundational programming in C/C++ and Python, including OO; familiarity with Git.
• Understanding of basic computer networking.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to document work and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Develop C/C++ and Python software for a defined embedded project.
• Build tooling, diagnostics, tests, or workflows to reduce friction in development and deployment on robot hardware.
• Integrate services/interfaces across software and hardware boundaries and document findings.
• Use version control and debugging practices to produce maintainable code.
• Collaborate with RoboSPLAT and partners, communicate status, and deliver final handoff.
