Job summary

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. seeks a Data Engineering Intern to tackle real-world robotics data challenges. You will optimize databases, build data pipelines, and enable reporting through BI dashboards.

Ideal candidates are pursuing CS/Data Engineering/Statistics degrees and bring knowledge of databases, ETL, and cloud platforms. December 2026 or January 2027 start with a 12–16 week program in Mountain View, CA. Dogs-friendly office and free catered lunch are offered.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative technical field.
• Strong working knowledge of relational and/or object database design, query optimization, and schema management.
• Experience or strong familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS Aurora DB and ElasticSearch, and building associated ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Familiarity with BI tools, dashboarding frameworks, or automated reporting factories (e.g., AWS QuickSight, Kibana, or custom visualization frameworks).
• Thinking with a safety mindset and an interest in autonomous systems or robotics.
• Ability to take ownership and enjoy working collaboratively to deliver dependable data solutions.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern software development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Optimize and maintain AuroraDB, ElasticSearch, and other data stores for high availability and performance.
• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines for continuous data platform development.
• Explore and scale QuickSight and dashboarding frameworks to surface actionable insights.
