Job summary

Formic seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer to own advanced support and long-term reliability of deployed robotic systems. You will diagnose failures, optimize systems, and partner across product, deployment, and engineering teams to improve uptime and performance.

This role blends reactive support with proactive engineering, with travel up to 50% and a focus on scalable, repeatable configurations across Formic’s fleet.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in manufacturing automation or industrial robotics.
• Strong ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control-system failures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures to minimize production downtime.
• Design and implement preventative and predictive strategies to improve reliability.
• Lead system-level continuous improvement initiatives including hardware/software upgrades.
• Analyze production data to identify systemic performance gaps.
• Provide remote support and triage issues to onsite teams as needed.
• Support field service activities and maintain system documentation.
