Job summary

Formic is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to own the long-term reliability of deployed robotic systems. You will troubleshoot, optimize, and improve automation in demanding production environments, balancing reactive support with proactive engineering initiatives.

You will diagnose complex failures, implement structured improvements, and partner across Product, Deployment, and Engineering to strengthen fleet-wide stability. Strong communication and hands-on problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in manufacturing automation or industrial robotics environments.
Proficient with PLCs, robots, and industrial control systems.
Strong problem-solving skills with a structured troubleshooting approach.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve complex automation failures to minimize downtime.
Design preventative and predictive strategies to improve reliability.
Lead system-level continuous improvement, including hardware and software upgrades.
Analyze production data and trends to identify performance gaps.
Provide remote support, triage issues, and guide onsite teams when needed.
Collaborate with Product, Deployment and Engineering teams to standardize configurations.
