Job summary

Methods Machine Tools in Sudbury, MA is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to design automation cells using Fanuc Robotics, CNC machines, and material handling. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create clearly defined concepts and detailed documentation.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in industrial automation, strong CAD/vision experience, and will contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and project execution, with travel to customer sites up to 25%.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics or related field.
5–10 years in industrial automation, robotics, or manufacturing engineering.
Experience with CNC machining processes and machine tending applications.
Experience supporting technical sales, proposal development, or application engineering.
Strong communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and engineering to identify automation opportunities.
Evaluate CNC machine tending feasibility, cycle time, ROI, and effectiveness.
Develop automation concepts for robotic cell handling, inspection, and palletizing.
Prepare technical proposals, solution descriptions, statements of work, and budgets.
Travel to customer facilities as needed for evaluations and demonstrations.
Provide technical guidance to engineering, controls, and manufacturing teams.
