Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and integrate robotic systems, including mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, system integration, and functional verification.
  • Support prototype and production builds, including sub-assembly, final assembly, testing, quality inspections, and pre-deployment readiness.
  • Perform system bring-up, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and root cause analysis.
  • Assist with robot installation, hardware upgrades, and on-site customer support.
  • Maintain organized robotics laboratory and equipment inventory.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, build records, test reports, and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve quality and efficiency.
  • Support on-site installation, commissioning, and technical support as needed.

Position Summary

As a Robotics Build Engineer / Build Specialist, you will play a critical role in building, integrating, testing, and preparing robotic systems for real-world deployment.

This is a highly hands‑on engineering role. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams throughout the entire robot build lifecycle—from prototype builds and production assembly to system integration, testing, validation, installation, and customer deployment—helping ensure every robot meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

This position may be filled at either the Robotics Build Engineer or Build Specialist level, depending on the candidate's experience, demonstrated technical capabilities, and overall interview evaluation.

What You’ll Do
  • Build, assemble, and integrate robotic systems, including mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, system integration, and functional verification.
  • Support prototype builds and production builds, including sub‑assembly, final assembly, functional testing, quality inspections, and pre‑deployment readiness.
  • Perform system bring‑up, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and root cause analysis to ensure reliable system performance.
  • Assist with robot installation, engineering changes, hardware upgrades, and technical support at customer sites as needed.
  • Maintain an organized robotics laboratory, including robots, tools, fixtures, spare parts, materials, equipment, and inventory.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, assembly procedures, build records, test reports, service documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and continuously improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support on‑site installation, commissioning, and technical support activities when required.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience building, integrating, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, or supporting robotic systems, industrial automation equipment, or complex electromechanical products.
  • Proven experience working with robotic or industrial automation hardware in manufacturing, laboratory, or field environments.
Technical Skills
  • Strong hands‑on experience with mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, system integration, and robot bring‑up.
  • Ability to independently assemble, test, troubleshoot, repair, and validate robotic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, electrical test equipment, and workshop equipment.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, torque tools, and other engineering test equipment is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience building, testing, commissioning, servicing, or supporting AMRs, AGVs, robotic manipulators, or other robotic automation systems.
  • Experience supporting robotic or automation systems in mission‑critical environments such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with robot manufacturing processes, quality control, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and system validation.
  • Experience with laboratory operations, inventory management, materials management, or production support.
  • Familiarity with robotic sensors, actuators, electrical systems, and industrial communication hardware.
  • Basic familiarity with ROS, Linux, or robotic system architecture is a plus (software development experience is not required).
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), prototype builds, or low‑volume manufacturing is a plus.
