Job summary

Pickle Robot Company is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join our Software Architecture team, focusing on scalable systems for robotic workflows on the warehouse floor.

You will own backend projects end-to-end, collaborating with robotics engineers and architecture peers, and applying strong backend practices in a robotics environment. Expect hybrid work with in-office presence three days per week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend or distributed systems.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Proficiency in another typed language (C++ preferred).
• Solid architecture, concurrency, and distributed design.
• Experience with event-driven or messaging systems.
• Clear communicator, able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of backend projects, working independently with strategic guidance.
• Help the architect understand data flows through the system — storage, movement, and consumption.
• Design architectural solutions that keep the system maintainable long-term.
• Develop scalable, reliable, and performant systems using Python and/or C++.
• Build and maintain event-driven, messaging-based architectures.
• Collaborate with robotics engineers to integrate backend with real-world workflows.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability across services.
• Share knowledge across the team and elevate engineering standards.
