Job summary

FieldAI is seeking a Robotics Autonomy Engineer - Systems to own perception capabilities for federal autonomy programs. You will lead perception stack development for robots in unstructured terrains, ensuring performance, robustness, and deployment across platforms and sensor configurations.

You’ll work hands-on across software and hardware to integrate LiDAR, RADAR, multispectral sensing into production autonomy systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field; MS with industry/applied research experience; or BS with relevant experience.
• Strong background in robot perception, localization, and mapping (SLAM) for real-world robotic systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying perception software in field robotics environments, not just in simulation.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python; ROS/ROS2 based systems.
• Experience with sensor fusion, state estimation, and real-time perception.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain perception systems for autonomous robots in real-world environments.
• Develop robust localization and mapping for unstructured terrains and field conditions.
• Integrate perception algorithms across LiDAR, cameras, RADAR, and inertial sensors; ensure deployment on multiple platforms.
• Deploy perception software on physical robots; debug on-robot issues in field operations.
• Collaborate with autonomy, controls, and platform teams to ensure clean integration into the autonomy stack.
