Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a graduate student intern for a 12-week robotics simulation and AI development internship in San Jose, CA.

You will work onsite, contribute to sim-to-real efforts, and develop AI-driven simulation pipelines while leveraging tools like RobotStudio, Isaac Sim, and Omniverse. The role requires enrollment in a US PhD or master's program, exposure to automation and robotics, and work authorization in the United States.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a US-based PhD or master's program in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Exposure to automation, robotics, with full-cell robotics simulation.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, BlenderProc, or other simulation software.
• Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse and ABB RobotStudio is a plus.
• Candidates must have work authorization to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Conduct robot simulation using RobotStudio HyperRealism.
• Develop complex AI and simulation for industrial deployment at scale.
• Strike the balance between fidelity and computational complexity.
• Contribute to closing the sim-to-real gap.
• Reduce dependence on physical prototypes.
• Make simulation integral to design, development and deployment.
• Generate photorealistic synthetic datasets in 2D, 3D and video sequences for AI and robotics applications.
