Job summary

Field AI in Irvine, CA, seeks a Robotics AI Engineer to advance sensor calibration for autonomous robots. You will join the CLAM team, building production-grade calibration pipelines for cameras, LiDAR, IMU, and other modalities to enable reliable perception in real-world environments.

The role involves improving automated calibration tooling, optimizing large-scale sensor data processing, and developing robust calibration algorithms supporting localization, mapping, and autonomy systems.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of robotics software engineering with robotics, CV and calibration expertise.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python, with maintainable, efficient code.
• Strong background in 3D geometry and computer vision.
• Solid understanding of sensor calibration techniques (camera intrinsic, LiDAR-Camera, multi-sensor).
• Hands-on experience with PCL, Open3D, OpenCV, Kalibr, etc.
• Familiarity with ROS and Ubuntu software practices.
• Familiarity with Ceres, GTSAM, g2o.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, ability to work independently with multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine sensor calibration workflows for various sensor modalities (LiDAR, cameras, IMUs) including intrinsic, extrinsic and temporal calibration.
• Design and implement scalable systems to manage and process large sensor datasets for calibration.
• Implement and optimize algorithms in C++ and Python with clean, organized codebase.
• Explore and integrate emerging technologies to enhance calibration workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project documentation requirements and deliverables.
