Description
PTMW, Inc is seeking a competent and results-oriented welder to operate our Robotic Weld Machine.
A Robotic Welding Operator is responsible for soft programming and operating the AGT robot to complete various welding tasks. This includes setting up the robot for specific jobs, selecting the correct programs to meet shop order demands, and monitoring the robot's operation to ensure proper functioning. The operator must clean the work area before and after work, adhere to safety guidelines, and ensure the quality of the outcomes meet industry standards. The role requires being detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a schedule-based environment.
Essential Job Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints, have basic mechanical knowledge, and use hand tools following instructions and welding products.
- Apply welding competencies and utilize computer software to operate the Robotic Weld machine.
- Monitor machine operation and control panel displays, comparing readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.
- Adjust machine controls when automatic programming fails or if malfunctions occur.
- Consult with management and the Robotic Team Guide to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors, or to obtain approval to continue production.
- Perform rework or corrections as necessary to ensure product quality.
- Load and unload materials using an overhead crane, depending on weight and size.
- Clean machines after each shift.
- Perform manual welding during robot weld cycles if required.
- Evaluate weld quality and performance on welded surfaces to specifications.
- Remove rough spots from workpieces using grinders or scrapers.
- Use templates and work aids to hold and align parts for quality and consistency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- One-year related welding experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Multiple welding certifications or a certificate in a specialty such as robotic welding.
- Certified or able to pass a welding test; D1.1/FCAW.
- Ability to pass internal quality assurance tests for mild steel and galvanized welding.
