Job summary

Intuitive Surgical is seeking a Systems Analyst (Robotic Algorithms and Control) to join the Multi-Port System Design Engineering team in Sunnyvale. You will contribute to tele-robotic motion control, manipulator control, and safety algorithms across electrical, mechanical, software, and UI domains.

You will prototype, test, and refine control strategies for new surgical platforms, document results, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality and reliable products through

Qualifications

• Experience in control-system design for robotic platforms.
• Strong knowledge of safety algorithms and risk assessment.
• Ability to work across electrical, mechanical, software teams.
• Experience with prototyping and validation in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design of new surgical platforms and instruments through control system analysis.
• Design and implement motion algorithms and behaviors.
• Apply control theory to mechatronic and tele-robotic systems.
• Analyze dynamically safe electro-mechanical devices for clinical risk.
• Create safety monitoring algorithms based on physics.
• Participate in clinical observations and experiments to ensure performance requirements are relevant, measurable, and realistic.
• Document and pursue intellectual property.
• Communicate system performance to the organization as a whole.
• Improve group work-flow through tool building and teaching others.
• Support and track system performance as it moves from design through manufacturing.
