Robotic Cell Maintenance Technician (2nd shift)

The Robotic Cell Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of palletizing robots, case conveyors, and other material handling equipment within the facility. This role involves conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting, and performing repairs to maximize system uptime and minimize downtime.

This position will be working at a customer site in Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198, for a fixed duration of 1 year (as a permanent Bastian Solutions employee). After this period, the employee will remain an employee of Bastian Solutions and may transition into a new role with at least 50% travel.

Job Functions

• Robotic Cell Maintenance:
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on system components, including robots, conveyors, electrical, and control systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
  • Perform corrective maintenance to restore performance.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for repairs or parts replacement.
• Material Handling Equipment Maintenance:
  • Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on conveyors and related equipment.
  • Address mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
  • Execute repairs and replacements to ensure optimal functionality.
• Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols during maintenance activities.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and local regulations.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities.
  • Generate reports on equipment performance and incidents.
  • Communicate maintenance status to supervisors.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Recommend system upgrades or modifications.
• Training and Development:
  • Stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Provide training to other staff on system operation and troubleshooting.

Travel Requirements: Less than 5% overnight travel, with expenses paid by Bastian Solutions.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
• Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting material handling equipment.
• Robotic Cell maintenance experience is a plus.
• Experience using voltmeters and diagnostic tools.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and safety protocols.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs).
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions.
