Job summary

Technique is seeking a Robot Weld Tech Lead to manage the robot welding department at our Jackson, Michigan plant. You will lead daily operations, plan production, and ensure flow of work while maintaining QMS compliance.

This role requires strong PLC and GD&T knowledge, plus the ability to train staff and drive continuous improvements. Ideal candidates will oversee onboarding, schedule builds, troubleshoot, and act as the person in charge when the manager is unavailable, ensuring timely

Job description

Technique is looking for a Robot Weld Tech Lead to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This role leads day-to-day activity in the robot welding department, serving as the person in charge when the manager is unavailable. Key responsibilities include production planning and scheduling to meet the expectations of internal and external customers, troubleshooting PLC controls, training and evaluating new employees, and keeping product flowing through the department.

The ideal candidate brings an advanced understanding of PLC controls and GD&T, proficiency with E2 for finding build information and process flow, and proven leadership ability – someone who leads by example, delegates effectively, and drives process improvements while following all Technique QMS processes.

Responsibilities
  • Train and evaluate new employees – Train and evaluate new employees in the department and complete reviews.
  • Lead by example – Set the standard for the department through your own work habits, quality, and professionalism.
  • Serve as person in charge – Lead the department if the manager is unavailable, acting as the person in charge.
  • Pull parts proactively – Pull parts from other departments rather than waiting for work to show up.
  • Plan builds with Materials – Utilize and understand the customer master sheet and work with the Materials group to plan builds.
  • Production planning and scheduling – Set a plan and work your plan to meet the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Drive process improvements – Identify and implement process improvements within the department.
  • Write work instructions – Write work instructions for the department.
  • Support HR – Support HR in all functions and documents.
  • Multitask and delegate – Support several tasks at the same time and delegate tasks to keep product flowing in the department.
  • Follow Technique QMS – Follow all Technique QMS requirements and their processes.
Requirements
  • Advanced understanding of PLC controls and processes to find faults, with the ability to change out control terminal relays
  • Advanced GD&T understanding
  • Ability to utilize E2 to find information for builds and process flow
  • Ability to train, evaluate, and lead employees in the department
  • Ability to support several tasks at the same time and delegate tasks effectively
