Job summary

Valeo is seeking a Robot Application Algorithm Engineer in Reno, NV (open to candidates anywhere in the U.S.). You will work on robot visual perception for grasping, assembly, and precision insertion, including 6D pose estimation and grasp pose computation, using ROS/ROS2 and MoveIt.

Responsibilities include deploying on-site, integrating vision, planning, and control modules, optimizing cycle times, and training on-site personnel; background in robotics software and hardware deployment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in robotics or related field.
• 3+ years in robot vision-guided grasping or robot application development.
• Familiar with forward/inverse kinematics, coordinate transformations, trajectory planning, and robot arm control.
• Familiar with OpenCV, PCL, RGB-D cameras, with hands-on experience in object detection/segmentation, point cloud processing, pose estimation, or grasp pose computation.
• Familiar with camera calibration, hand-eye calibration, and transformations from vision coordinates to robot coordinates; understand force control concepts.
• Hands-on experience with real-robot commissioning and industrial deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develop robot visual perception systems, including object detection and pose estimation.
• Deliver a closed-loop workflow from visual localization to robot execution using MoveIt/MoveIt2.
• Combine vision, depth, and force feedback for online correction of end-effector poses.
• Integrate ROS/ROS2-based architecture across vision, planning, and control modules.
• Deploy on-site, adapt production lines, troubleshoot, and train on-site personnel.
• Validate manipulation algorithms using RL and end-to-end policies.
