Job summary

Rhoda AI in Palo Alto seeks a Robot Software Engineer to build and maintain the software backbone of humanoid robots. You will work across the onboard stack, from networking to perception and control, enabling reliable data collection and field-ready deployments.

The role requires strong C++, Python, or Rust skills, ROS/ROS2 proficiency, and experience with hardware-in-the-loop debugging. Collaboration with ML and control teams is key to delivering robust robot systems.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of robotics software engineering, embedded systems, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, or Rust with strong CS fundamentals.
  • Experience with networking protocols for hardware-software systems.
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 in production or research contexts.
  • Ability to debug across the full stack on live hardware.
  • Comfort working directly with physical hardware in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain networking and communication infrastructure for onboard robot systems.
  • Own data collection pipelines and upload to cloud storage for model training.
  • Develop telemetry and observability systems for real-time robot health and performance.
  • Create internal tooling for deployment, logging, and debugging in field tests.
  • Integrate perception and control to form a cohesive robot stack.
  • Support bring-up and field testing of new hardware revisions; troubleshoot full onboard stack.
  • Collaborate with ML, perception, and control engineers to meet data quality requirements.
