Job summary

Avride in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a hands-on Robot Service Technician for a full-time/contract role. You will assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and operate our autonomous delivery robots in real-world deployments across local sites.

You will work 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, focusing on wiring, sensor integration, mechanical and electrical assembly, and field support. Travel to nearby sites and document maintenance as part of rapid prototyping.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Ability to read 2D mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience installing and integrating electronic modules.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems and safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and work in workshop and field environments.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble wiring harnesses, cables, and connectors for autonomous robots.
  • Install, configure, and replace sensors (LiDAR, cameras, ultrasonic).
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of components.
  • Follow schematics and procedures to ensure quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive service on the robot fleet.
  • Diagnose failures, investigate incidents, and execute repairs.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical/electrical systems including suspension and batteries.
  • Document maintenance activities and findings.
  • Travel between local sites to provide onsite support.
  • Support deployment, testing, and validation in real-world environments.
  • Assist with inventory management, parts organization.
  • Participate in rapid prototyping and hardware validation.

Robot Service Technician – Full Time/Contract

Avride is a U.S.-based autonomous vehicle startup headquartered in Austin, TX, with additional R&D hubs around the world. Our company develops and operates both autonomous cars and delivery robots that share technologies and mutually benefit from each other’s advancements—a unique approach in the industry. Since 2017, Avride has been building expertise in autonomous technologies to create solutions that address current needs and anticipate future demands. Today, we operate a fleet of autonomous vehicles in Dallas, Texas, in partnership with Uber, bringing our technology into real-world deployment.

About the role

Avride is preparing to launch a fleet of autonomous delivery robots in Fayetteville and is seeking a hands‑on Robot Service Technician to support this exciting deployment. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and field operation of our autonomous delivery robots. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working across mechanical and electrical systems, and contributing to the advancement of cutting‑edge robotics technology in a fast‑paced, real‑world environment.

This position is employed through our staffing partner and offers weekly pay. The role is full‑time (40 hours per week) with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

What you'll do
  • Assemble wiring harnesses, cables, and connectors for autonomous delivery robots
  • Install, configure, and replace sensors including LiDAR, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of robot components and subsystems
  • Follow technical documentation, schematics, and assembly procedures to ensure quality standards
Maintenance & repair
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive service on the robot fleet
  • Diagnose failures, investigate incidents, and execute repair and service campaigns
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including suspension and battery components
  • Document maintenance activities and service findings
Field operations support
  • Travel between local sites to provide onsite technical support as needed
  • Support deployment, testing, and validation of autonomous delivery robots in real‑world environments
  • Assist with inventory management, equipment tracking, and parts organization
  • Participate in rapid prototyping and hardware validation efforts
What you'll need
  • Experience using mechanical and electrical tools, including measuring equipment
  • Experience assembling and disassembling electrical and electromechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience installing and integrating custom electronic modules
  • Understanding of AC/DC electrical systems and safe working practices
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Comfortable working both in a workshop environment and in the field
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more
    Nice to have
    • Experience in automotive service, vehicle retrofitting, manufacturing, or related industries
    • Experience working with electric vehicles (EVs)
    • Soldering and wire crimping experience
    • General computer proficiency and familiarity with diagnostic tools
    • Experience supporting robotics, autonomous systems, or other advanced technologies
