Job description

Roark is searching for talent to contribute to the future development of our adventure lifestyle brand. The Assistant Store Manager will partner with and support the Store Manager in all aspects of the business operations of the Roark location in San Diego, CA. The ASM will help manage the guest experience, operations, customer flow, staff, and inventory efficiently. They will inspire and lead the team to provide unique, innovative, and superior customer service, making customers feel welcomed, heard, and helped like a friend.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Operations/Sales/Customer Service:
    • Assist the Store Manager in growing revenue through a premium guest experience, employee relations, and operations aligned with Roark Culture and Retail Operating Principles.
    • Support the Store Manager in meeting financial goals, including revenue, payroll budget, and P&L.
    • Manage product flow, restocking, back-of-house operations, supply needs, and store maintenance.
    • Maintain visual merchandising standards and brand image daily.
    • Be a product expert, understand customer needs, and guide product selections.
    • Oversee cash procedures, tills, returns, exchanges, gift cards, and discounts.
  2. People:
    • Partner with the Store Manager in supervising the team, including recruiting, hiring, training, and development.
    • Motivate and inspire staff, leading by example.
    • Maintain a leadership presence and project confidence.
    • Share product and customer care knowledge, providing coaching and feedback.
    • Assist with performance reviews and develop talent through training and mentoring.
  3. Events/Marketing:
    • Participate in store events and promote local collaborations with relevant brands, artists, musicians, and athletes.
  4. Goals:
    • Assist in leading the sales team to deliver excellent customer service and build customer loyalty and community.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of sales and customer service processes.
    • Create a unique and engaging retail environment reflecting Roark's values.
  5. Compensation:
