Job summary

Benesch is a growing multi-disciplinary planning, engineering, and professional services firm seeking a Roadway Transportation Project Manager to join our Transportation team in Franklin or Nashville, Tennessee. This role blends technical roadway expertise with project leadership and client development within a hybrid work model.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in roadway engineering, a PE license, and strong skills in client management, planning, design, and coordination with TDOT and other

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in roadway or transportation engineering and project delivery.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
  • Experience managing roadway and transportation projects from planning through final delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of roadway design principles, standards, and project delivery practices.
  • Experience with TDOT projects and applicable TDOT standards preferred.
  • Experience with roadway design software such as OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and transportation projects from project initiation through completion.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality, and overall financial performance.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, designers, subconsultants, and other project partners.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for roadway design and transportation projects.
  • Develop and review roadway plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and other technical project deliverables.
  • Apply knowledge of TDOT, AASHTO, FHWA, and applicable local and state transportation standards to project development and delivery.
  • Identify project risks, develop solutions, and proactively address issues that could impact project scope, schedule, budget, or quality.
  • Lead client meetings, project presentations, coordination meetings, and other project discussions.
  • Support proposals, scopes of work, fee development, interviews, and other business development activities.
  • Identify new opportunities and contribute to the growth of Benesch’s transportation practice through client relationships and professional networks.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with TDOT, municipalities, counties, and other transportation agencies and industry partners.
  • Represent Benesch at industry events, networking events, professional organizations, and other business development opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and designers while helping build a strong and collaborative transportation team.
  • Collaborate with other Benesch offices and service lines to identify opportunities and provide integrated solutions for clients.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Benesch’s Transportation team through technical expertise, project leadership, and market knowledge.

Roadway Transportation Project Manager

Benesch is seeking a Roadway Transportation Project Manager to join our growing Transportation team in Franklin or Nashville, Tennessee. Benesch has a strong, well‑established relationship with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and a growing portfolio of transportation work throughout the region. We are looking to add an experienced transportation professional who is interested in growing their career while helping us expand our presence and continue building strong relationships with TN transportation clients.

We are open to speaking with experienced Project Managers as well as Senior Project Engineers who are ready to take the next step in their careers and grow their project management, client relationship, and business development skills. This is an opportunity to combine strong technical roadway expertise with project leadership and client development while working alongside an experienced transportation team.

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to grow with a team, take on increasing responsibility, and play a meaningful role in the continued growth of Benesch’s transportation practice.

Location

This position offers a hybrid work schedule and can be based out of either our Franklin or Nashville, Tennessee, office.

The Impact You Will Have

What We Are Looking For
