Job summary

ICE offers a 12-week Civil Engineer Intern program designed to provide immersive, hands-on experience across civil design, construction inspection, field investigations, and planning. You may assist with roadway and bridge design, stormwater, utility coordination, and site grading as projects allow.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Civil Engineering or related degree, junior or senior preferred.
• Coursework in Transportation/Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or Highway Design.
• Familiarity with traffic analysis tools and software will help (HCS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley).
• Valid driver’s license and legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing engineering reports and studies (e.g., Traffic Impact Analyses, signal warrant analyses).
• Perform traffic volume calculations in Excel and support design tasks.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Bentley software to develop analyses exhibits under supervision.
• Prepare traffic analyses models using Synchro, HCS, Sidra, and Vistro.
• Create GIS maps for engineering reports and studies.
• Support data collection through site visits, surveys, and investigations.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to meet project schedules.
• Assist in preparing technical documents and client presentations.
• Review project plans for compliance with industry standards and regulations.
