Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky's Transportation Cabinet in Carrollton, KY seeks a Highway Technician Assistant I to perform basic highway maintenance tasks including operating small dump trucks, snow plows, and mowing machines, with survey assistance and flagging duties.

The ideal candidate must be a high school graduate, possess a valid driver’s license and obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months, plus First Aid and Snow & Ice Training and Traffic Control/Flagger/OSHA-10 certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL Class B within 12 months.
• First Aid and Snow & Ice Training within 12 months.
• Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA-10 certifications or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate a small single axle dump truck hauling materials to and from job sites.
• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader in winter.
• Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers.
• Learn and assist with basic surveying activities or construction projects.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
