Qualifications

  • 10-15 years or more of relevant experience in transportation design.
  • Practical knowledge of AASHTO standards, TDOT Design manuals, and MUTCD.
  • Previous experience with consulting engineering for transportation projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management of transportation design projects.
  • Develop project/task schedules and facilitate coordination with teams.
  • Prepare plans, cost estimates, and reports for client deliverables.

Garver is seeking aTransportationRoadway Team Leaderto join our growing Team inFranklin, Tennessee. They will be mentored and trained as seller‑doers with opportunities to market our services, interact with the biggest transportation clients in Tennessee, and grow their career.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management of transportation design projects(Highways, Roadways, Bicycle/Pedestrian facilities)
  • Develop project/task schedules for active projects
  • Facilitate coordination with subconsultants and internal design team members
  • Provide oversight of plans production for transportation design projects
  • Prepare plans, cost estimates, reports, and calculations required for client deliverable packages.
  • Lead engagement and interaction with design teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
Technical experience should include
  • Geometric design for roadways/interchanges
  • Construction sequencing and traffic control
  • Utility relocation coordination
  • Marketing activities may include assisting in the production of proposals and letters of interest, as well as participation in interviews and other presentations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Tennessee, or will have the ability to obtain reciprocity within three months of hire
  • 10-15 years or more years of relevant experience
  • Practical working knowledge of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Green Book, the Roadside Design Guide, and the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD) as well as TDOT Design manuals and processes
  • Experience with Microstation, Geopak, Open Roads Designer and/or other roadway design software
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team‑first mentality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Requirements/Skills
  • Previous experience in consulting engineering with a primary focus on TDOT (or other DOT) transportation project design
