Overview

Just hired 2 crews, and looking to add 2 more. Now interviewing and hiring in Scranton, PA area for Roadway Safety Flaggers! WILL TRAIN & CERTIFY but must have some construction, roadway, and/or machinery experience.

Expected Rate of Pay: $18-22/hr

Days of Work: Monday-Friday

Penta, a division of Centerline Communications, is a growing telecommunications contractor, providing complete turn-key engineering and project management services for network communications construction projects. We seek a reliable and safety-conscious Roadway Safety Flagger to join our team. The flagger will direct traffic through construction zones, ensuring safety for workers, motorists, and pedestrians. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stand for extended periods in various weather conditions. The position is based in Scranton, PA, and surrounding areas in eastern PA.

What Will You Do
  • Direct and control the flow of traffic around work zones using hand signals and traffic control devices.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, pedestrians, and work crews to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Set up and maintain traffic control signs, cones, and barricades as per safety regulations.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and adjust flagging operations as necessary.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines established by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Report incidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain proper safety gear, including high-visibility clothing and PPE.
  • Work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
What You Will Need
  • Valid flagger certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong communication and situational awareness skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in traffic control, construction, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of traffic control procedures and safety regulations.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure.
Physical Demands
  • Environmental conditions include heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration, and very loud noise.
  • Requires ability to stand, walk, and hold a sign for extended periods.
  • Work is performed outside an office environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position with expected hours from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Travel
  • Travel to job sites in the Scranton, PA area and surrounding areas in Eastern PA.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance policy.

Expected compensation includes $18 to $22 an hour, with benefits such as medical, vision, dental, and 401(k) plans for eligible employees. Compensation may vary based on education, experience, skills, location, and other job-related factors.
