Volkert, Inc. is seeking a Roadway Project Engineer to support our Gulf Region in Mississippi and/or Tennessee. The candidate should have 3+ years of roadway design experience and a BS in Civil Engineering.

An EIT certification is required, with PE preferred, and candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to MS or TN. The role involves leading or supporting project designs, coordinating with subconsultants, preparing reports and specifications, and ensuring schedules and budgets meet

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 3-6 years relevant experience in roadway design.
• Must have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules and budgets.
• EIT is required.
• Experienced in DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications.
• Proficient with OpenRoads Designer.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with calculating plan quantities and engineering estimates, developing construction specifications, and coordinating with subconsultants.
• Leading or assisting in the development of project designs and directing EIs and designers to successfully execute and deliver project work.
• Applying established engineering techniques, procedures, policies or standards.
• Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs.
• Work as part of a team delivering transportation and civil design projects.
• Attends team meetings and coordinates work to ensure best practices.
• Works on detailed engineering assignments including calculations and standard tasks.
• Identifies and analyzes problems using reasoning to arrive at conclusions.
• Adheres to schedules and budgets for timely and cost-effective completion.
• Adheres to quality assurance and quality control standards.
