Job summary

City of Charlotte is seeking a Pavement Markings worker responsible for installing and maintaining pavement markings, operating specialized tools, and supporting crews on traffic projects in Charlotte, NC. The role requires heavy manual labor and the ability to follow engineering drawings, with CDL Class A preferred.

The position involves setup of temporary traffic control, strict safety practices, and detailed record-keeping.

Qualifications

• One (1) year work experience with heavy equipment, construction, traffic control, or pavement markings.
• Ability to read and write; including follow engineering drawings and construction plans that are provided.
• General knowledge of methods, practices, procedures, work hazards and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of pavement marking operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to the installation and maintenance of pavement markings with limited supervision from Field Engineering & Operations Supervisor.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain pavement markings.
• Operate a variety of specialized pavement marking tools and equipment.
• Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Set up temporary traffic control, safety cones and signs according to MUTCD and training.
• Maintain detailed work records and daily logs.
