Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Pavement Markings Technician to install and maintain pavement markings and support traffic control activities. This role involves assisting work crews with installation, maintenance, and repair of markings, and performing heavy manual labor in a dynamic environment.

You will work primarily in the Pavement Markings Section but may support other sections or special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with heavy equipment, traffic control, and pavement markings.
• Ability to load, unload, and operate equipment safely.
• Familiarity with MUTCD standards.
• Strong record-keeping and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain pavement markings.
• Operate a variety of specialized pavement marking tools and equipment.
• Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintain detailed work records including maintenance forms, inventory forms, vehicle inspections forms, daily work logs and other documentation.
• Set up temporary traffic control, safety cones and signs according to the MUTCD and related training.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following procedures and using PPE.
• Perform related work as required.
