Job summary

Arizona Department of Transportation seeks a Highway and Construction Laborer in Phoenix, AZ. This entry-level to journey role offers a salary of $37,838 to $50,848 with a $4,000 hiring incentive. Grade 14-19; closing date Sept 16, 2026.

The position involves operating motorized vehicles, pavement care, signing and striping, landscape work, and environmental compliance. CDL Class A and related endorsements are required; candidates must obtain permit within 90 days and license within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Six months of Roadway/Highway job related experience as determined by the area’s needs which may include operating motorized vehicles and heavy-duty equipment and maintenance, signing/striping of roadways, pavement care and preservation.
• 1 year of job related Roadway/Highway experience for Tech1 and more for progression.
• 3 years for Tech3 including supervision responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized vehicles and equipment for highway operations.
• Perform pavement care, preservation, and landscape tasks.
• Assist with signing/striping, equipment delivery, and environmental compliance.
