Roadway Maintenance Technician I - Public Works

Summary: Performs a variety of manual labor tasks related to the construction, cleanliness, maintenance, and repair of the county's roads and bridges.

  • Base Pay: $15.49 Hourly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include performing general road maintenance such as patching roads, laying asphalt, repairing driveways, and manual labor like mixing concrete, cutting brush, mowing, cleaning drains, erecting fences, installing culverts, and working as a flagger. Operates small equipment such as mowers, electric saws, drills, and other tools.

Other Duties: Load/unload materials, drive trucks, operate machinery like mowers, rollers, loaders, and assist with carpentry, plumbing, or sign making.

Qualifications: Ability to perform duties satisfactorily, follow oral instructions, work under supervision, learn to operate tools, perform strenuous outdoor work, and establish cooperative relationships. Must have a valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Education and/or Experience: Less than high school education; high school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; occasional talking/listening; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; vision requirements.
