Job summary

MDOT seeks a Transportation Maintenance Worker to perform maintenance on state trunk lines within a defined garage area and travel as needed across the region. Duties include surface, roadside and winter maintenance, operating heavy equipment, and participating in the TMW work element program.

CDL is required; candidates may be placed at 6, 7, or E8 levels based on education and experience. This position may require travel to assigned areas and may involve working with various types of equipment

Qualifications

• Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
• Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at the time of appointment.
• No specific type or amount of experience is required for Transportation Maintenance Worker 6.

Responsibilities

• Maintain surface and roadside general maintenance and winter maintenance activities.
• Operate a vehicle or vehicle/trailer with GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more when performing maintenance.
• Travel to assigned work areas and participate in team managed work groups and the TMW element program.
• Operate various types of equipment and support roadway and sign maintenance as part of MDOT duties.
