Job summary

Ferrovial in Virginia seeks a Roadway Maintenance Technician to operate maintenance equipment, transport materials and personnel, and perform skilled highway maintenance tasks. You may supervise others and sometimes train less experienced personnel on equipment operation and roadway maintenance.

Requirements include a Class B CDL with air brakes as desired; 1–3+ years in general roadway maintenance, traffic control, and traffic management; experience with construction vehicles and snow removal;

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance tasks: traffic control, pavement repair, landscaping, painting, relamping, guardrail and barrier repairs; on-call after hours as needed.
• Responds to traffic incidents and provides roadside assistance.
• May supervise and train less experienced personnel.

About us:

In 2016, the Commonwealth of Virginia selected a Cintra-led consortium to finance, design, build, operate and maintain the express lanes on Interstate 66 Outside the Beltway. The project will transform this critical Northern Virginia artery to relieve congestion, improve safety and provide more predictable travel times. The project corridor extends approximately 22 miles along Interstate 66 from the Capital Beltway (I-495) to Gainesville (US Route 29). Once completed, the project will include three toll-free general-purpose lanes in each direction and two express lanes in each direction with a state-of-the-art open-road electronic toll collection system. Expanded transit service, park-and-ride lots and interchange enhancements will further improve travel along I-66. The project will also connect several shared use paths to create more multimodal options. As an innovative and efficient public-private partnership, this project will be completed at a $2.5 billion net savings for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Job Description:

The Roadway Maintenance Technician operates automotive and maintenance equipment to transport material, equipment and maintenance personnel as well as performing skilled highway maintenance duties . Also, participates in the maintenance of buildings. Works with maintenance personnel receives assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager , and on occasion s supervises personnel on various job assignments . You w ill guide and/ or train less experienced personnel on equipment operation and roadway maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operates equipment such as tractor s , mowers, sweepers, bucket trucks , Truck Mounted Attenuators ( TMA's ) and Snow Plows .


• O perate assigned gas or hand tools to complete Daily Assignments


• Inspects equipment for proper operating condition, makes minor repairs or adjustments, lubricates and assists in making repairs as required


• Performs skilled maintenance such as traffic control, pavement repair, landscaping, painting, relamping , guardrail and barrier repairs , and is available on-call after hours for emergency maintenance service, as needed


• Responds to traffic incidents , provides roadside assistance to motorists on I- 66 and is available on-call after hours for emergency incident response, as needed


• Performs miscellaneous building maintenance as required


• Any other job duties as assigned

Education, Experience & Certification:

• A Class \"B\" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the endorsement of air brakes is desired


• 1 -3+ years of experience in g eneral roadway maintenance, traffic control , and traffic management is desired


• Previous experience with construction vehicles and snow removal operations is desired


• Basic knowledge of a utomotive mechanics
