Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Maybell, CO. Must hold a Class A or B CDL and be ready for on‑call work and rotating shifts in a team setting.

Duties include plowing snow, operating heavy equipment, mowing, debris removal, and installing/signing, with traffic control responsibilities. Annual compensation is $53,940 base, with a biweekly pay of $2,074.62 and an annualized hourly rate of $25.93.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.
• On‑call work and shift work are required.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to follow safety guidance.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and operating heavy equipment.
• Mowing grass and weeds; debris removal from roadways and culverts.
• Installing and repairing sign, guardrail, markings, and lighting.
• Setting out traffic control signs and cones; responding to emergencies.
