Job summary

The City of Colorado Springs is looking for an Equipment Operator I to join the pavement operations team. You will operate a range of equipment to repair and maintain streets and alleys, including trucks, plows, and compactors, in outdoor conditions.

Typical schedule is 6:30AM–5:00PM, with shifts Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday depending on crew. The role requires safety focus, physical endurance, and valid Colorado licenses including CDL Class B within one year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of professional, full-time experience in general construction, manual labor or a related field.
• Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license.
• Possess, or obtain within one year of hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado CDL Class B driver's license which is not subject to restrictions related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges.

Responsibilities

• Operate single/tandem axle dump trucks, plows, and sanders during snow removal.
• Transport materials and equipment to/from work sites.
• Safely use, service, and make minor repairs to tools and equipment.
• Perform manual labor such as shoveling, debris removal, and site clean-up.
• Assist other Public Works teams as business needs require.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain accurate work records.
• Other duties as assigned.
