Job summary

GFT is seeking a Roadway Engineering Intern in Schaumburg, IL, for a mid-May to mid-August timeframe. You will join a focused roadway team, contributing to design, inspections, and construction support while receiving mentorship from experienced engineers.

Work on highways and bridges, gain exposure to MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD, and participate in various project phases to help deliver safe, efficient transport solutions.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program or related field.
• Interest or internship in Roadway/Highway Engineering including design, inspection, and construction.
• Basic proficiency in CAD, spreadsheets, interpreting design drawings, and technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Support client projects by creating engineering drawings using CAD tools.
• Assist in basic engineering calculations and data input into analysis software.
• Participate in field assignments including roadway inspections to support project needs.
• Review drawings, proofread reports, and perform related engineering support tasks.
