Job summary

HDR is seeking a Roadway EIT/Designer to join our Highway + Road team in North Carolina. You will work on a team of project engineers on detailed design of urban and rural roadway projects, handling alignment, profiles, geometrics, drainage, plan development, and construction estimates.

We value EIT within 12 months, MicroStation/GEOPAK/Open Roads Designer experience, proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD, MS Office, and collaboration with local candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience using MicroStation, GEOPAK, or other transportation design software.
• Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with Open Roads Designer.
• MS Office experience.
• Preference for local candidates.
• Active participant in our employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications, and calculations
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Roadway Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
• Able to develop designs using MicroStation, GEOPAK, or other transportation design software packages
• Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
• Familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highways and Roads engineering software such as Open Roads Designer
• MS Office experience
• Preference is given to local candidates

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field
