Job summary

Columbia in Georgia is seeking a Light Equipment Operator to support road maintenance activities and ensure safe, efficient operations outdoors.

You will operate dump trucks, loaders, tractors and related equipment, install drainage and maintain drainage structures, and coordinate with utility crews to avoid underground hazards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years’ experience, and a valid driver’s license; CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years’ experience in road maintenance or equipment operation.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
• Ability to read simple plans and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate dump truck for transporting rock, sand, gravel.
• Operate tractor for grass cutting and underbrush.
• Operate other road maintenance equipment such as front end loader, backhoe, pan, and bulldozer.
• Install and maintain cross drains and drainage pipes.
• Communicate with utility personnel regarding underground utilities.
• Repair road and bridge ties.
• Conduct other related duties as assigned.
