Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Roadway Design Technician to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for designing and building high-quality roadways and is committed to delivering exceptional results. The Roadway Design Technician will work under the direction of an immediate supervisor based out of our Oklahoma City office. The Roadway Design Technician will perform a variety of technical, professional and administrative tasks requiring a considerate background in CADD operations, transportation management, and transportation plans.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May supervise professional and/or technical staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for all phases of AutoCADD Civil 3D and/or Microstation Open Roads Designer operations, transportation management operations, and use of software related to CADD operations.
  2. Provides training, guidance, expertise, and assistance to professional and/or technical staff.
  3. Designs and prepares complex civil drawings for transportation projects which may include earthwork, drainage, material quantities, geometrics, and details using CADD applications.
  4. Incorporate red-line changes in existing drawings as directed.
  5. Computes geometry for layouts and details of drawings, plans, and maps; earthwork and material quantities for bridges, roadway surfacing, traffic controls, and culverts.
  6. Prepare drawings utilizing CADD applications for such features as site plans, highway, traffic and bridge plans, front, rear and side elevations, cross sections, details, and schedules.
  7. Design and develop plans, profiles, cross-sections, and details for roadway projects.
  8. Resolve any design-related issues that arise during construction.
  9. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of transportation management operations; of map, chart, and plans interpretation; and of all phases of CADD procedures as well as land survey terminology.
  • Mathematics including percentages, algebra, plane and solid geometry, and basic trigonometry.
  • Ability to perform design work and complex drafting work; to exercise judgment in analyzing situations and determining sound courses of action.
  • Ability to organize and conduct several activities; and to provide guidance and training to others.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction plans and traffic management plans.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of roadway design experience.
  • Working knowledge of Roadway Design Software AutoCADD and Civil3D (Microstation Open Roads Designer a plus).
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma transportation regulations and standards along with knowledge of AASHTO Green Book standards and MUTCD.
  • Focus in Roadway Design and Transportation preferred.
  • Experience in roadway and drainage design/plans production.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Vision to read and review maps, legal descriptions, contracts, review data, etc.
  • MVR that falls within the guidelines of our insurance policy.
