Job summary

Lochmueller Group in Indianapolis is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Roadway Design team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience on local agency and DOT roadway projects and a track record of delivering design solutions that support safe and sustainable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in roadway and highway design, including work on INDOT or local agency projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment to support project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in the planning and execution of roadway design projects.
• Assist in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and timelines.
• Conduct engineering analysis and design for assigned projects.
• Design projects or project components and prepare project documents.
• Apply engineering techniques, methods, and design criteria to support project execution.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met.
• Prepare and review project documentation, reports, and specifications.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• May be involved in the mentorship and development of junior level staff.
