Job summary

LJB Inc. in Cleveland, OH seeks an experienced Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager to lead transportation projects, manage client relationships, and ensure project profitability.

You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, oversee design and scope, and guide project delivery from concept to completion while pursuing PMI best practices and maintaining strong client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
• P.E. license required; Ohio P.E. preferred; obtain OH PE within first year.
• At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering.
• Experience on DOT design projects is required; experience with multiple DOTs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects.
• Point person and firm’s contact with clients while functioning as project manager.
• Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
• Guides and coordinates all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub-consultants, and clients.
• Has a basic understanding of what the other transportation disciplines do and what they require as part of specific projects.
• Responsible for the nine knowledge areas, according to the PMI, that are associated with each phase of the project they are managing including: Project Integration Management; Project Scope Management; Project Time Management; Project Cost Management; Project Quality Management; Project Human Resource Management; Project Communications Management; Project Risk Management; Project Procurement Management.
• Responsible for assisting the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
• On larger projects, PM may or may not be involved directly in the design.
• Apprise Deputy Operations Manager of employee performance on particular projects.
• Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects so they can manage staffing.
• Assist in informal development of other employees.

Annual Compensation: $95,000 – 185,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager Essential Functions

Required Qualifications

ROADWAY DESIGN ENGINEER – PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• P.E. license required, Ohio PE is preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to get their OH PE within the first year of hire.
• At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering.
• Experience working on DOT design projects is required, experience with multiple DOTs is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of project management experience is preferred.
• Deltek Vantagepoint or similar CRM and Project Management software experience.
• MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil-3D software experience.
