Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer in the Roadway Group to independently plan, design, organize, and recommend roadway improvements for NCDOT, County and municipal projects in Troutman, NC.

You will work on alignments, pavement design, traffic control plans, and project documentation, with opportunities for technical growth and leadership within the team. This role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• BSc in Civil Engineering required.
• FE certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• 0–4 years of transportation design experience.
• Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design including horizontal alignments, vertical alignments, 3D modeling and cross-sections, pavement design, and temporary traffic control plans, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Preparing of project documentation including Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Package, Design Variations and Exceptions, Estimated Quantity Reports, and Project Meeting minutes.
• Assist Project Managers and Senior Engineers with roadway design task production and maintaining project documentation.
• Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data.
• Perform routine calculations and participate in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
