Job summary

GFT seeks a Construction Manager for Roadway and Bridges to join our Construction Services Team in Chicago or Rockford, IL. The role requires regular attendance at our Chicago and/or Rockford offices, and involves supervising project meetings, schedules, inspections, and payments to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Engineering or Construction Management, 7+ years of experience, and CPR/PE preferences, with IDOT certification and OSHA training.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• IDOT Documentation Certification, required.
• 7+ years of construction management experience.
• Experience with Primavera P6 preferred.
• 10-hour OSHA Safety course.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document project meetings with clients.
• Prepare and monitor project schedules.
• Perform periodic construction observation and inspection.
• Interpret basic surveying data.
• Prepare reports and correspondence.
• Prepare and check quantities for measurement and payment.
• Prepare construction payment applications.
• Negotiate and prepare change orders.
• Review submittals and technical data.
• Use construction management software for docs and scheduling.
• Perform constructibility reviews and value engineering.
• Assist with risk management assessments.
• Prepare and monitor Quality Control/Assurance plans.
