Job summary

Hill International is seeking a Construction Inspector in Cleveland, Ohio to support highway/roadway and bridge projects across Northeast and Central Ohio. The role involves field inspections, contract compliance, and daily documentation for state and local agency programs.

Qualified applicants will have 2+ years in highway/roadway work, relevant degrees, and prequalifications including ODOT Inspector levels and IMSA certifications; preferring those with NICET and advanced approvals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience on highway/roadway construction projects.
• Associate degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Prequalified as ODOT Project Inspectors levels 1 and 2: passing scores on ODOT Fuel/ Pavement/ Traffic Tests and related certifications.
• Prequalified ODOT Structures Inspector: same minimum requirements as Project Inspector Level 2 plus Advanced Structures Test.
• Traffic Inspector and Signal Inspector: IMSA Traffic Signal Construction Technician Level II and IMSA Roadway Lighting Technician Level I certifications.
• Above prequalification highly preferred or ability to qualify within 90 days.
• Experience on ODOT and/or Ohio Turnpike projects is a plus.
• NICET Highway Construction Level II Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Construction administration and inspection services.
• Inspect and ensure compliance with contract plans, standards and specifications.
• Provide daily inspection of construction work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Measure and verify plan quantities for Contractor pay applications, perform calculations and maintain project records.
• Be proactive and alert project management of issues in the field.
• Observe field work to ensure workmanship and materials meet quality standards.
• Document work via daily inspection reports and other reports.
