  • Evaluate completed work against project quality requirements and applicable industry standards, and coordinate corrective actions with contractors, resident engineers, and quality assurance staff when non-conforming elements are identified.
  • Review and develop inspection and testing reports, material certifications, placement records, and quality control documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Document inspection findings, deficiencies, field observations, and project progress through photographs and electronic reporting systems.
  • Witness and record field testing, material sampling, structural load testing, and acceptance testing activities.
  • Coordinate inspection schedules with specialty inspectors, survey personnel, utility representatives, and other project stakeholders.
  • Verify implementation of approved traffic control, environmental compliance, and construction safety requirements within active inspection areas.
  • Participate in field coordination meetings and progress reviews to resolve technical and construction issues.
  • Support punch list development, substantial completion inspections, final acceptance documentation, and record verification during project closeout.
Attributes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a firm commitment to safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Collaborative mindset that builds trust and effective working relationships with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving ability when evaluating field conditions and non-conforming work.

  • Working knowledge of bridge, guideway, railroad, and heavy civil construction methods, structural systems, engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, construction specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) principles and construction inspection practices.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, traffic control, and environmental compliance requirements applicable to active rail and highway construction sites.
