Job summary

Lubbock County is seeking an Equipment Operator I to support the maintenance and repair of county roads, bridges, and rights of way. You will operate a range of light and heavy equipment and assist with traffic control and site safety.

The role requires basic experience with road work, valid driver's license, and the ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions. Training provided; CDL may be preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in construction, maintenance, or roadways/operational roles recommended.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving history; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate light and heavy equipment as required on road and bridge projects.
• Perform traffic control at job sites and manage signs and barricades.
• Maintain daily records of time, materials, equipment, and site issues.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment before and after use for safety and quality.
• Assist with road base prep, patching, and cleanup of drainage ditches.
• Perform other assigned tasks related to county maintenance programs.
