Job summary

The Saginaw County Road Commission seeks an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the Engineering Department and serve on our management team. You will oversee planning, design, and delivery of county road and bridge projects, manage funding, supervise staff, and shape transportation infrastructure for Saginaw County.

Responsibilities include leading the department, acting as the Road Commission's Professional Engineer, overseeing state and federal projects, developing budgets,

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Michigan.
• At least 5 years of experience in roadway and bridge design and construction.
• Experience with budgeting, long-range planning, and asset management.
• Knowledge of GASB-34 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Engineering Department.
• Serve as the Road Commission's Professional Engineer.
• Oversee state and federally funded road and bridge projects.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets.
• Coordinate engineering design, construction, asset management, and permitting.
• Work closely with MDOT, FHWA, and local municipalities
• Participate in strategic planning as a member of the Management Team.
