Job summary

New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service is seeking a Construction Equipment Operator to support road and grounds maintenance, snow and ice control, and related duties. The role requires operating backhoes, bulldozers, forklifts, loaders, and other equipment per supervisor instructions and safety standards.

Incumbents are considered essential personnel and may report to state or federal supervisory staff. Training will be provided, and more complex tasks may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience operating construction/maintenance equipment or other vehicles over 26,000 GVW.
• Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver's license; military license may be required.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work outside in varying temperatures and weather.
• NACI background check and potential SECRET clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of equipment under the Maintenance Supervisor's direction.
• Perform preventive maintenance and assist mechanics with repairs.
• Maintain daily records of work performed and materials used.
• Provide on-the-job training to other workers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
